Padraig Harrington has been appointed as a vice-captain for Europe’s Ryder Cup team at the 2027 tournament, which will take place in Ireland. Harrington will join Italian brothers Edoardo and Francesco Molinari on the leadership team under captain Luke Donald. The event is scheduled for September 2027 at Adare Manor in County Limerick.

Harrington, a three-time major champion, has a long history with the Ryder Cup, having represented Europe six times as a player. He has previously served as vice-captain on three occasions and captained the European team in 2021. Notably, during Harrington’s captaincy in 2021, Donald was one of his vice-captains.

Upon his appointment, Harrington described the news as both surprising and gratifying. He remarked that he did not expect to represent Europe again in any official capacity and said the Ryder Cup has been one of the defining experiences of his career. He emphasized the significance of returning to the competition in his home country, calling it particularly meaningful.

The 2027 Ryder Cup will mark a return of the prestigious golf event to Ireland, highlighting Adare Manor as the host venue. Harrington’s inclusion in the leadership team reflects his enduring influence and experience within the European Ryder Cup setup.
