British singer Harry Styles recounted an unusual experience involving remote hypnotherapy during a concert at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday night. The “As It Was” artist revealed that he underwent a hypnosis session conducted via video call while he was in London and the hypnotherapist was in New York. During the session, Styles’s internet connection unexpectedly dropped, causing the call to disconnect while he remained in a hypnotic state.
According to Styles, he remained unaware of the disconnection and woke up hours later feeling disoriented and noticing numerous missed calls from his therapist, who had attempted to reconnect. Speaking to the audience, Styles described the experience as “the greatest nap” of his life and recommended hypnotherapy despite the glitch.
The incident came as part of his ongoing “Together, Together” tour, for which Styles is currently engaged in a 30-date residency in New York. In addition to live performances, a documentary project capturing his time in the city since August is underway. Directed by indie filmmaker John Wilson and produced by Universal Pictures, the film will include a combination of concert footage, behind-the-scenes glimpses into Styles’s life, and fan interactions. Unlike many artists’ documentaries that debut on streaming platforms, this project is expected to premiere in cinemas due to high anticipated demand.
Styles’s tour has been met with positive reviews, including a five-star rating from critics at the opening night in Amsterdam earlier this year. The hypnotherapy episode adds a personal and humorous note to the ongoing narrative of his current artistic endeavors.
