Kevin Hassett, a key economic advisor to President Donald Trump, defended the administration’s handling of the economy in an interview on CNN’s "The Lead" on Thursday, despite a recent poll indicating significant public dissatisfaction.

The survey, jointly conducted by CNN and SSRS, revealed that 77 percent of respondents viewed the nation’s financial condition as either very poor or somewhat poor. Additionally, 70 percent of those questioned expressed disapproval of President Trump's management of economic issues.

Responding to the poll results, Hassett maintained a positive outlook, emphasizing indicators such as declining inflation and low unemployment rates. "Right now the economy does look amazing to me," Hassett said, pointing to strong economic growth as evidence contradicting the public’s negative perceptions.

Hassett also questioned the validity of the poll findings, suggesting that they do not align with the broader economic data. "I just don’t believe a poll like that, given how strong the numbers are and how strong income growth is, how optimistic people are," he added.

The contrasting views underscore a gap between official economic indicators and public sentiment. While employment figures and inflation trends suggest an improving economy, the poll highlights widespread skepticism among the population about the country's financial health and the administration's economic stewardship.
