A couple’s recent stay at a small, family-run hotel in North Wales took an unexpected turn when they encountered unexplained events in their room, raising questions about the property’s purported supernatural activity.
After arriving at the hotel following a three-hour drive, the guests—husband and wife—retired to their room for rest. Shortly after preparing for bed, they experienced a sudden dimming of both overhead and bedside lights, which plunged the room into darkness. Initially suspecting a power outage, they checked the hallway and other parts of the hotel, all of which remained brightly illuminated. The lights in their room later returned after they operated the switches. The couple found the experience perplexing but not immediately alarming.
The following day, the same sequence of lighting anomalies occurred when the wife returned to the room alone after a walk, while her husband remained in the bar. Despite reassurance from her husband to focus on a drink rather than the unusual events, the woman reported feeling increasingly uneasy and perceived shadowy shapes in the darkness that night.
Upon raising the matter with the hotel owner at breakfast, the couple received an unexpected confirmation: guests had previously reported strange occurrences in that particular room, including sensations of being touched. The owner acknowledged the room’s reputation, adding that a regular visitor to the hotel habitually refused to stay there. When questioned, the owner suggested the events might be the result of a power cut, although this explanation appeared tentative.
Further affirming the room’s notoriety, a hotel waiter responded to the account with a knowing remark, indicating that the room’s eerie reputation was well known among staff.
The couple expressed frustration that no information about the room’s supernatural associations was provided in advance, highlighting a lack of transparency that may have influenced their decision to book. While some travelers seek accommodations with haunted reputations, others prefer to avoid such experiences.
This incident underscores the importance of clear communication by hospitality providers regarding any reported paranormal activity, enabling guests to make informed choices aligned with their preferences.
