The death of a Southwest Airlines flight attendant who fell from the 24th floor of a hotel in Hawaii has been officially ruled a suicide, despite ongoing doubts from her family. Jenny Lupton, 50, was found dead near a dumpster at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki Beach on August 20 while on a layover, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Lupton, who lived in Oklahoma and was a mother to a 15-year-old son, had worked as a flight attendant for nearly 30 years, primarily with Southwest Airlines. Her family has expressed skepticism over the suicide determination, emphasizing that Lupton appeared to be in good spirits and was looking forward to completing a tattoo. They have called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The medical examiner’s office confirmed that Lupton died from multiple injuries sustained in the fall, categorizing the cause of death as suicide. Meanwhile, police officials emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities are continuing to conduct interviews, review surveillance footage, and examine evidence related to the case.

The incident occurred at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, a four-star hotel located near Waikiki Beach, roughly 10 miles from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. Lupton’s family described her as a devoted mother and expressed confusion over the incident given her apparent excitement during the trip.

Law enforcement officials have not disclosed further details, and the investigation is still underway as they work to clarify the circumstances that led to Lupton’s fall.
