The Hayleys badminton team secured three key titles at the 14th MBA Inter-Firm Doubles Team Championship 2026, held at the MBA Courts and concluded on August 30. Organised by the Mercantile Badminton Association (MBA), the event featured top mercantile-sector badminton talent from across Sri Lanka.

Hayleys captured the championship in the Grand Slam, Novices, and 240+ categories, underscoring the strength and depth of its badminton program. The Grand Slam team’s roster featured notable players including Olympian Viren Jayasinghe, alongside Rumesh Rukmal Fernando, Thilina Niranga, Sanjaya Damayantha, and other key contributors such as Lahiru Keshan, Isuru Perera, and Tilan Perera.

In the 240+ division, the winning lineup comprised players including Chrishan Danushka, Viren Nettasinghe, Oshamika Karunaratne, and Manura Wickramasinghe. The team also counted on the efforts of Laksara Aravinda, Tharanga Perera, Pradeep Gunasena, Roshan Fernando, and Suneendra Thannegedara to secure the title.

The Novices category saw another strong Hayleys squad clinch victory, led by national-level competitors Oshamika Karunaratne and Varangana Jayawardana, alongside Dinuka Nettasinghe. Additional team members included Chrishan Danushka, Tharusha Shamal Charles, Tharanga Perera, Charuka Dewmika, Pradeep Gunasena, Lihini Wiesinghe, Naduni Perera, and Mohan Fernando.
