The escalating frequency and severity of wildfires have led to tens of thousands of deaths annually and a wide range of acute and chronic health problems.

The smoke produced by wildfires contains a complex mixture of harmful particles and gases, many of which originate not only from burning vegetation but also from structures and vehicles, contributing to the toxic composition.
