Award-winning journalist and true-crime podcaster Hedley Thomas is set to launch a new six-part series on Paramount+ that will examine some of Australia’s most compelling crime investigations. Titled *Hedley Thomas Investigates*, the series will present one case per episode, providing a detailed exploration of each investigation from multiple perspectives.
Drawing on his extensive background as a journalist, author, and podcast creator, Thomas aims to offer audiences a comprehensive look at how law enforcement and those close to the cases worked to solve these complex crimes. The series will feature interviews and insights from family members, legal representatives, detectives, and witnesses involved in the cases, many of which have captivated national attention.
The program is scheduled for release on Paramount+ in 2027 and will be officially announced at the network’s upcoming Upfront event. Thomas emphasized his intention to delve deeper than previous coverage by carefully unpacking evidence and investigative work to reveal how perpetrators were ultimately held accountable.
“We want to break new ground by going beyond the headlines and providing detailed insight from detectives and loved ones,” Thomas said in a recent interview. “This approach highlights some of the most serious murders in Australia and demonstrates how thorough police work brought offenders to justice.” He noted that the series will continue the investigative rigor familiar to listeners of his popular podcasts, by leaving “no stone unturned.”
Since 2017, Thomas has focused on cold-case murders of Australian women, producing multiple acclaimed podcasts including *The Teacher’s Pet*, *The Night Driver*, *Shandee’s Story*, *Shandee’s Legacy*, *Bronwyn*, and most recently *The Poisoned Wife*. His work has amassed over 170 million downloads and achieved chart-topping status not only in Australia but also in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand.
Thomas expressed gratitude toward those who have supported his investigations over the years, noting that the transition to a Paramount+ series provides an opportunity to share these stories with a wider, global audience. Reflecting on the enduring appeal of true crime, he suggested that audiences are drawn to stories where justice is pursued, especially when traditional investigations have stalled.
“Listeners want to know the guilty can be held accountable and that investigative journalism can sometimes achieve what official inquiries cannot,” he said.
The series represents a significant step in bringing in-depth true-crime storytelling to a streaming platform, continuing Thomas’s work in shining a light on some of Australia’s most harrowing unresolved crimes.
