Heidi Klum, often dubbed the “Queen of Halloween,” debuted her most elaborate costume to date at her 25th annual Halloween party on Saturday in New York City. Attending the event held at Cathédrale, the 53-year-old supermodel and television personality appeared as a gruesome life-sized severed left hand, complete with red nails, gold rings, and a bloodied wrist.
Klum’s costume featured a large prosthetic hand modeled after her own left hand, incorporating a hidden personal touch: one of the rings bore her wedding band, a detail noticed by her daughter Leni. The design rendered Klum nearly unrecognizable, with her legs forming two of the fingers and her face visible through a realistic gash at the wrist. To navigate the blue carpet, she was assisted by several helpers dressed in yellow hazmat suits and face masks.
The elaborate hand was the result of months of work by Klum and prosthetic designer Mike Marino of Prosthetic Renaissance. Marino described the creation as one of the most complex costumes his team has ever produced. Klum revealed the concept had been in development for about a year and required a team of 10 to 15 people to help her don the costume, which was so large that it had to be transported to the party in a small truck.
In the lead-up to the event, Klum teased the costume on social media with hints about its bloody nature and complexity, sparking fan speculation that ranged widely from characters in “Stranger Things” to creatures from recent horror media. She described the upcoming look as “very, very bloody” and “gory,” consistent with her tradition of pushing creative boundaries with her Halloween ensembles.
Klum’s husband, Tokio Hotel guitarist Tom Kaulitz, was absent from the celebration due to a concert in Hamburg. She joked that he could have been the “other hand” in a couple’s costume. Their daughter Leni attended the event dressed as Miss Piggy, wearing a purple feather boa, pearls, and a pink snout.
The Halloween festivities began earlier in the week with a pre-party featuring guests such as Sofia Vergara, Taylor Momsen, Kyle MacLachlan, and Lindsey Vonn. Klum’s Halloween parties, which began in 2000, have become an annual highlight noted for extravagant costumes and celebrity attendees. She has said she invests more time preparing her costumes than actually celebrating, especially when prosthetics are involved, and typically begins planning her next look shortly after Halloween.
