Jamie Hardesty, a prominent figure in the North East technology sector, has launched a strategic communications firm aimed at supporting high-growth companies that may not require a full-time senior communications executive. The new venture, named Hardwired, offers fractional chief communications officer services, including assistance with positioning, messaging, communications strategy, product launches, and major announcements.
Hardwired initially targets businesses operating in technology, artificial intelligence, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing. A key focus of the company is helping clients develop AI-enabled communications capabilities internally, rather than fostering long-term reliance on external consultants.
Hardesty has already engaged with founders and companies based in Tyneside, East Yorkshire, and Albany, New York. He emphasized the evolving nature of corporate storytelling, noting that the narratives that secure initial customers may not be sufficient for attracting investment, entering new markets, or recruiting senior staff. "Your story has to move with the business," he said.
His approach involves a thorough understanding of each company’s unique challenges and gaps in their communications strategies. Depending on the needs identified, Hardwired may deliver a complete communications strategy, focus on specific projects such as product launches, or collaborate with existing teams to enhance their skills. Hardesty expressed particular interest in empowering businesses to take ownership of their communications. He observed that founders increasingly want to understand communications themselves rather than simply outsourcing it.
Hardesty advocates a consulting model that integrates senior expertise on a flexible basis, addressing communications challenges collaboratively and strengthening the internal team for future needs. This approach aims to deliver practical solutions that build lasting capabilities within fast-growing organizations.
