New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has been diagnosed with a high right ankle sprain and will miss an undetermined period, a league source confirmed Tuesday. Henderson sustained the injury during the second quarter of Sunday’s 45-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. The injury occurred when Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn tackled Henderson on an 11-yard rushing attempt.

Following the play, Henderson was able to stand but remained on the sidelines, visibly avoiding putting weight on his right leg as he was assisted to the team's medical tent before heading to the locker room. Initially, the Patriots listed Henderson as questionable to return but later ruled him out for the remainder of the game.

This marks the second ankle injury Henderson has encountered this season, having previously been sidelined nearly three weeks, including missing the season opener, after an earlier ankle injury sustained during training camp.

With Henderson sidelined, the Patriots will lean heavily on Rhamondre Stevenson to handle the primary rushing responsibilities. Running backs Corey Kiner and practice squad member Lan Larison are also expected to see increased carries moving forward.

The Patriots have dealt with numerous offensive injuries through five games, including key wide receivers A.J. Brown, who is managing an ankle injury, Mack Hollins with a calf issue, and right guard Mike Onwenu, who is also recovering from an ankle injury. The Patriots face the challenge of navigating a series of setbacks as they look to maintain offensive consistency during the ongoing NFL season.
