Nothing, the technology company known for its distinctive transparent design and innovative features, has launched its latest smartphone and wireless earbuds, aiming to expand its ecosystem with accessible new products. The Phone (4b), priced at £299, and the paired Ear (3a) earbuds at £99, were released on July 17 in the UK.

The Phone (4b) is positioned as a more affordable alternative within Nothing’s lineup, sitting below the Phone (4a). It combines design elements from higher-end models, including the unibody shape of the Phone (4a) Pro and the Glyph Bar feature from the standard (4a). The Glyph Bar is a strip of 45 individually controlled mini-LEDs on the rear that provides visual notifications for calls, charging status, recording, and custom alerts without needing to activate the display. The handset is available in blue, white, and black, and carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.

Under the hood, the Phone (4b) houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor built on a 4nm process, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The company references an AnTuTu benchmark score exceeding one million, but emphasizes smooth day-to-day performance suitable for gaming and on-device AI tasks. The smartphone features a large 5,200mAh battery—the largest to date in a Nothing phone—supporting 33W wired charging that can replenish to 50% capacity in under 30 minutes. The company estimates up to 18 hours of mixed use per charge.

The device sports a 6.77-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. Photography capabilities center on a 50-megapixel main camera equipped with optical image stabilization and supported by an ultrawide lens plus Nothing’s TrueLens Engine 4 image processing software. Video recording includes 4K resolution at 30 frames per second and a dual-capture mode utilizing both front and rear cameras simultaneously.

Running Nothing OS 4.1 on top of Android 16, the Phone (4b) comes with a commitment to three years of Android version updates and six years of security patches. Its software package includes Essential AI tools along with integrations for ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and a feature called Circle to Search.

Complementing the Phone (4b) is the Ear (3a) wireless earbuds, continuing Nothing’s signature transparent aesthetic and offered in black, white, yellow, and a bright pink option. The earbuds feature new 12mm drivers, support LDAC streaming, and have Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification. Active noise cancellation is rated up to 45 decibels.

A standout feature is Audio Snapshot, which uses 32MB of built-in memory to capture short audio clips via a gesture control—pinching both stems—enabling recording of ambient sounds from just before and after the interaction. These clips can be edited, shared, and transcribed through the Nothing X app. The earbuds also support recording of calls and meetings for up to two hours, with a privacy alert notifying participants when recording is active.

Ear (3a) earbuds provide up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge, extending to 42 hours with the case when noise cancellation is off. With ANC enabled, battery life decreases to six hours per charge and 25 hours with the charging case.

While both products can function independently, their shared design language and integrated software services offer a cohesive user experience. Together, the Phone (4b) and Ear (3a) provide a distinctive and affordable mobile setup that stands out in the midrange market. Both devices are available for purchase from the company’s website and select retailers.
