Manchester City’s new midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi has praised Rodri as his key footballing role model as he settles into life at the Premier League club. The 18-year-old Moroccan was signed by City this summer for £86 million, following Rodri’s transfer to Barcelona.

Rodri left Manchester City with an impressive record, having secured four Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy, as well as contributing to Spain’s World Cup victory. Bouaddi has been seen as a promising replacement, impressing in his opening two Premier League appearances and delivering a composed performance during his first Champions League start against Porto.

Bouaddi described Rodri as “an unbelievable player” and noted the significance of the Ballon d’Or winner’s achievements. “He is a reference for every player in this position,” Bouaddi said, highlighting Rodri’s influence on his development.

In addition to Rodri, Bouaddi expressed admiration for other former Manchester City players he watched growing up at the Etihad Stadium. He mentioned Yaya Touré, Kevin De Bruyne, and Ilkay Gundogan among the names he regards highly, acknowledging the depth of talent he aspires to emulate as he embarks on his professional career with the club.
