Bentzion Levinson, CEO of Heven AeroTech, outlined his vision for the future of drone technology during an interview held at the Jerusalem Post Annual New York Conference. Levinson discussed the company’s development of hydrogen-powered fuel cells for drones and recounted the experience that initially drew him to the industry.

Levinson’s interest in drones began in 2018 when he worked on projects involving drones equipped with thermal cameras to detect and manage wildfires and security threats in southern Israel. This experience led him to see drones not just as flying cameras but as autonomous robotic systems capable of carrying out complex missions across various industries.

“Most of the drone market focuses on small flying cameras and sensors that can detect things like fires,” Levinson said. “I realized that if a drone could become a flying robot and carry out a mission, it could totally change its use case.” Heven AeroTech’s focus on hydrogen fuel cell technology aims to improve the endurance and operational capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), positioning the company at the forefront of this evolving sector.

Heven AeroTech operates in both the United States and Israel, combining engineering talent and operational know-how from its global team. Levinson emphasized that simplicity in drone design has made the technology accessible to a wider range of nations and actors, allowing those with limited resources to advance in the field more easily than with traditional fighter jets.

The company recently completed a successful Series B fundraising round, reflecting growing investor confidence in the drone industry after initial challenges in attracting capital. This funding will enable Heven AeroTech to expand its technology development and operational capacity further.

“A key part of our strategy is bringing together world-class talent, engineering expertise, and operational experience from across our global team to build the leading Western unmanned systems company,” Levinson said. He added that maintaining leadership in unmanned systems requires continuous innovation to meet the demands of customers operating in increasingly complex environments.

Levinson concluded by stressing the transformative potential of drone technology across multiple sectors, highlighting Heven AeroTech’s commitment to advancing this technology to provide meaningful capabilities on a global scale.
