Hezbollah has launched a fresh attack against Israeli military positions in response to ongoing violations of the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, the Lebanese militant group said in a statement. The exchange underscores the fragile security situation along the border despite a truce intended to halt hostilities.

The Lebanese resistance movement reported targeting an Israeli artillery position in the settlement of Kfar Giladi. According to Hezbollah, this site was responsible for recent Israeli shelling in the Lebanese town of Yahmar al-Shaqif. The group said it deployed a combination of rocket fire and attack drones in the operation, describing it as a direct response to “blatant and documented violations” of the ceasefire by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).

Hezbollah’s statement claimed that since the truce took effect at midnight between Thursday and Friday, the IOF has committed more than 200 violations, including attacks on civilians and destruction of homes in southern Lebanon. The group asserted its right to retaliate and resist what it describes as ongoing Israeli occupation.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have not formally confirmed the attack on Kfar Giladi, but earlier Hebrew media reports indicated that rockets were fired toward Israeli positions in southern Lebanon and drones were launched near a northern Israeli settlement. In addition, a few days ago, Hezbollah fighters reportedly ambushed an Israeli convoy traveling from Taybeh toward Deir Seryan, detonating a pre-planted explosive device targeting eight armored vehicles.

The latest flare-up follows an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon on Wednesday that killed at least one civilian, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency. Such incidents have raised concerns about a collapse of the ceasefire, which was brokered to last 10 days amid heightened tensions after recent clashes.

Hezbollah’s military media released a video titled “The Nightmare Returns… It Has Indeed Returned,” emphasizing what it said was the re-emergence of some of its most effective tactical capabilities. The footage references historic ambushes employing explosive devices against Israeli forces during their occupation of southern Lebanon, particularly during operations in the 1980s and 1990s. These methods were credited with helping to wear down Israeli forces prior to their withdrawal in 2000.

Separately, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, leader of Yemen’s Ansarallah movement, commented on the situation, urging the broader Islamic world to confront what he termed its “real enemies,” specifically referencing Israel.

The ceasefire arrangement remains tenuous, with continuing exchanges of fire and accusations on both sides threatening to destabilize the border region. Hezbollah’s warnings signal its intent to continue responding to any breach of the truce, raising concerns about renewed escalation in the near term.
