KUALA LUMPUR — HI Mobility Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Handal Indah Sdn Bhd, has received a letter of intent (LOI) from the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) regarding its proposed appointment as a network operator under Johor Baru’s Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme. The proposed contract period is set to run from January 1, 2027, to March 31, 2031.

The LOI, which is non-binding, allows Handal Indah to engage in discussions with Apad, an agency under the Malaysian Transport Ministry, as it considers continued involvement in the SBST initiative. Details concerning the scope of services, contractual terms, contract value, and other relevant matters remain under negotiation and must be finalised before any official letter of acceptance is issued.

Lim Chern Chuen, executive director and chief executive officer of HI Mobility, stated that the group remains committed to collaborating with the government and other stakeholders to address the public transportation needs of Johor Baru. The SBST programme is part of Malaysia’s broader efforts to enhance urban mobility and improve the quality and efficiency of bus services in key cities.
