His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman met with Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, on Wednesday at Al Barakah Palace. The meeting included senior officials from both countries and focused on a range of bilateral and regional issues, notably ongoing diplomatic efforts related to US-Iranian negotiations.

At the outset of the audience, Shaikh Mohammed conveyed greetings from His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of Qatar, sending well wishes for the health and happiness of Sultan Haitham and continued progress for the Omani people. In return, the Sultan asked that his greetings and good wishes be passed to the Emir and the people of Qatar.

The discussions covered the trajectory of US-Iranian talks, which are reportedly being facilitated with mediation from Qatar and Pakistan. Both sides emphasized the importance of advancing these negotiations to achieve peace and stability in the region. Sultan Haitham highlighted the need to synchronize the constructive initiatives undertaken by friendly and allied countries to foster a comprehensive resolution to ongoing conflicts. The Qatari delegation acknowledged Oman's significant role, under the Sultan’s leadership, in facilitating communication channels and bridging differences among the involved parties.

In addition to the regional diplomatic context, the two leaders explored ways to support and strengthen bilateral cooperation across various fields to serve mutual interests and benefit their peoples. The meeting followed the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, which forms part of broader diplomatic efforts to enhance security in the Gulf and the wider Middle East.

The Omani delegation included Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, and senior officials from the private office and foreign ministry. On the Qatari side, senior officials accompanying the Prime Minister included Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al Khulaifi, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Council Hamad bin Khamis al Kubaisi, and Qatar’s Ambassador to Oman Shaikh Mubarak bin Fahad al Thani.

Following the meeting with Sultan Haitham, Shaikh Mohammed also met separately with Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi to further discuss bilateral relations and regional challenges, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to cooperation and ongoing dialogue aimed at promoting security and stability.
