Historian and author Dan Jones has been commissioned to write a James Bond novella in honor of the National Year of Reading. The new work, titled *All In*, is a tribute to Ian Fleming’s fourth Bond novel, *Diamonds Are Forever*, which marked its 70th anniversary in 2026.

Scheduled for release on December 3, the novella is set in Ceylon during a significant historical period, reflecting Jones’s approach to blending fiction with historical context. Jones, known for his bestselling historical works including *Henry V*, *The Plantagenets*, *The Templars*, and the fictional Essex Dogs trilogy, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity. He described the project as a major honor within contemporary fiction and emphasized his excitement in continuing Fleming’s legacy.

Jones also shared a personal reflection on the assignment, recalling his early passion for reading and his modest beginnings, highlighting that the invitation to contribute to the James Bond series fulfilled a long-held aspiration.

The novella will be issued as a special edition, showcasing both a celebration of Fleming’s original work and Jones’s interpretation of the iconic spy’s adventures. Ian Fleming Publications, which manages the Bond literary legacy, entrusted Jones with this task, further underscoring the significance of this tribute in the literary and fan communities.
