His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman met on Wednesday at Al Barakah Palace with Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, to discuss ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region. The meeting included a review of the current US-Iranian negotiations, which are being facilitated through Qatari and Pakistani mediation.
Shaikh Mohammed conveyed greetings and well-wishes from Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of Qatar, expressing hopes for the health of Sultan Haitham and the continued prosperity of the Omani people. In turn, Sultan Haitham extended his sincere regards to the Emir and the people of Qatar.
Central to the discussion was the trajectory of efforts aimed at resolving the war and establishing a definitive, comprehensive settlement to the regional crisis. Sultan Haitham emphasized the importance of advancing these diplomatic initiatives to achieve peace and stability, stressing the need to coordinate constructive measures undertaken by neighboring and allied countries.
The Qatari delegation commended Oman’s significant role in supporting dialogue and providing channels of communication among conflicting parties, recognizing the Sultanate’s leadership in fostering mutual understanding throughout the process.
Representing Oman were HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister; Dr. Hamed bin Said al Aufi, Head of the Private Office of His Majesty the Sultan; and Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al Hinai, Ambassador-at-large at the Foreign Ministry.
The Qatari delegation included Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Hamad bin Khamis al Kubaisi, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Council; and Shaikh Mubarak bin Fahad al Thani, Ambassador of Qatar to Oman.
The meeting underscores the ongoing collaborative efforts by Gulf states to support mediation initiatives that seek to end conflicts and promote regional stability.
