His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman made a private visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, underscoring the close ties between the two neighboring countries. During the trip, the Sultan met with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Crown Prince’s residence in Jeddah.
The discussions centered on strengthening the historically fraternal relationship between Oman and Saudi Arabia and exploring opportunities to enhance cooperation across various sectors. Both sides exchanged views on recent regional and international developments, focusing on potential measures to de-escalate tensions and promote peace while ensuring the stability and economic interests of their respective nations.
The Omani delegation accompanying Sultan Haitham included several senior officials: Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of the Royal Office Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of Interior Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Head of the Private Office Dr Hamed bin Said al Aufi, President of Oman Investment Authority Abdulsalam bin Mohammed al Murshidi, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology Eng Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Energy and Minerals Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, and the Omani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sayyid Najeeb bin Hilal al Busaidi.
The Saudi side was represented by several high-ranking officials, including Minister of Energy and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman al Saud, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz al Saud, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan al Saud, Minister of Commerce Dr Majid bin Abdullah al Qasabi, Minister of Tourism Ahmed bin Aqeel al Khatib, Minister of Transport and Logistics Eng Saleh bin Nasser al Jasser, Minister of Investment Fahd bin Abdul Jalil al Saif, Chief of General Intelligence Khalid bin Ali al Humaidan, and Saudi Ambassador to Oman Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman, accompanied by senior officials, personally welcomed and saw off Sultan Haitham at the Royal Pavilion of King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, highlighting the importance Riyadh places on its relations with Muscat. The visit reflects continued efforts by both countries to deepen cooperation and address shared regional challenges amid ongoing geopolitical developments in the Middle East.
