Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Nuclear Medicine Molecular Imaging section within the Clinical Imaging Department has been designated as a Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Centre of Excellence by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) in the United States. This accreditation marks a significant achievement for HMC, making it one of the first centres outside the U.S. to earn this recognition.

The award reflects HMC’s commitment to maintaining high standards in radiopharmaceutical therapy, emphasizing quality, safety, and precision in patient care. The designation affirms the organisation’s adherence to international protocols and its focus on delivering personalised, targeted treatments that aim to enhance patient outcomes.

Dr. Maryam al-Kuwari, chief radiologist at HMC, highlighted the importance of this recognition, stating that it demonstrates the institution’s advanced capabilities and dedication to patient safety. She added that the accreditation underscores HMC’s ongoing efforts to develop and advance nuclear medicine services for its patient population.

Currently, the Nuclear Medicine Molecular Imaging section offers therapies for six different benign and malignant conditions, showcasing its expanding expertise in this specialized area. The department continues to innovate and broaden its services to address the evolving healthcare needs of patients within Qatar and the wider region.
