Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Nuclear Medicine Molecular Imaging section within its Clinical Imaging Department has received international accreditation from the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) in the United States, designating it as a Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Centre of Excellence. This marks HMC as one of the first centers outside the US to earn this recognition.
The accreditation reflects HMC’s adherence to rigorous standards of quality, safety, and advanced clinical practice in delivering radiopharmaceutical therapy. It acknowledges the institution’s commitment to providing precise, personalized treatment approaches aimed at improving patient outcomes. The facility currently offers therapies for six distinct benign and malignant conditions, underscoring its growing expertise and leadership within the specialized field of nuclear medicine.
Dr. Maryam al-Kuwari, chief radiologist at HMC, emphasized the significance of the achievement by highlighting the center’s strong capabilities and emphasis on patient safety and individualized care. She noted that the accreditation demonstrates their ongoing dedication to enhancing nuclear medicine services and expanding treatment options for patients in Qatar and the surrounding region.
HMC continues to develop its nuclear medicine services by integrating innovative techniques and expanding its clinical offerings to meet the increasing demand for specialized radiopharmaceutical therapies. This international recognition is expected to reinforce the institution’s role as a regional hub for cutting-edge cancer and benign disease treatment using molecular imaging and targeted therapies.
