Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) recently honoured members of its Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) and Person-Centred Care (PCC) ambassadors for their contributions to enhancing patient and family engagement within its healthcare system. The recognition event took place at Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City under the theme "Recognising Our Partners in Person-Centred Care."

The gathering brought together HMC senior leadership, PFAC members, and PCC ambassadors to acknowledge the critical roles patients, families, and staff play in improving healthcare experiences. Among those present were chief human resources officer Mona al-Homaidi, chief nursing officer Mariam al-Muttawa, and deputy chief medical officer for clinical affairs Dr. Yousuf Khalid al-Maslamani.

PFAC members were highlighted for providing vital insights from patient and family perspectives, contributing to service enhancements and patient experience improvements across HMC facilities. Concurrently, PCC ambassadors were recognised for fostering compassionate interactions and upholding the principles of person-centred care in their everyday engagements with patients, families, and colleagues.

The event included an appreciation ceremony that acknowledged 88 PFAC members representing all HMC facilities, as well as leaders and PCC champions from each site. Additionally, 80 PCC ambassadors were celebrated for their dedication to promoting a culture of compassion and patient-centred care throughout HMC hospitals and clinics.

Nasser al-Naimi, chief of Patient Experience at HMC and director of the Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute, emphasised the significance of these partnerships, stating that patients and families are essential in creating healthcare experiences that are compassionate, respectful, and responsive to individual needs. He noted that through the PFAC and PCC ambassador programmes, HMC strengthens these relationships and ensures that patient and family perspectives remain central to every stage of care delivery.
