Columbia Asia Hospital Iskandar Puteri has made a contribution totaling RM15,000 to the Breast Cancer Support Group Johor Bahru (BCSGJB) to promote breast cancer awareness and encourage early detection. The donation, presented by the hospital’s chief executive officer Dr Ding Eng Li on Tuesday, consisted of RM5,000 in cash and RM10,000 worth of complimentary mammogram screenings.
The presentation took place at the BCSGJB premises in Larkin, Johor Baru. Under the arrangement, the breast cancer support group will help coordinate and identify eligible women to receive the free mammogram screenings.
In a statement, Columbia Asia Hospital Iskandar Puteri noted that the contribution reflects the institution’s ongoing commitment to community health initiatives aimed at encouraging women to adopt proactive measures in managing their breast health. Dr Ding expressed hope that the support would reach those in need and would contribute to raising greater awareness about breast cancer and the critical importance of early detection for improving outcomes.
Breast cancer remains among the most common cancers affecting women in Malaysia, and early screening is widely recognized as a crucial step in improving survival rates. Partnerships such as this between healthcare providers and community organizations serve to increase access to screening services and promote public education on the disease.
