A 64-year-old woman from Widnes, Cheshire, has been disqualified from driving after being found to have a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit. June Austin was stopped by police following a report from her husband, who noticed her condition while she was behind the wheel.

According to prosecution statements, Mr. Austin observed his wife slumped over the steering wheel and appearing vacant. The incident took place in June at around 11 a.m. Austin subsequently admitted to drink-driving.

At a hearing before magistrates in Warrington, she received a driving ban lasting 28 months, alongside a one-year community order. Additionally, she was ordered to pay £545 in fines and court costs. During the proceedings, Austin expressed remorse, stating that she had ceased drinking and that she was ashamed of her actions, vowing that the offense would not be repeated.
