The Houston Texans have acquired wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. in a trade with the Arizona Cardinals, following their 26-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Along with Harrison, the Texans received a seventh-round draft pick in 2027. In exchange, the Cardinals secured second- and sixth-round picks from Houston. The full terms of the trade have not been publicly disclosed.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans announced the move shortly after the win, expressing enthusiasm about adding Harrison to the roster. The trade reunites Harrison with quarterback C.J. Stroud, his former college teammate at Ohio State University.
Harrison, the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has had a challenging tenure with the Cardinals. The 24-year-old wide receiver missed the active roster for Arizona on Sunday as the team sought a trade. Through the first four games of the season, Harrison recorded five receptions for 85 yards and one touchdown, marking a significant decline from the expectations set during his standout college career.
Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 220 pounds, Harrison was once considered a near-certain star prospect. The Texans are now tasked with tapping into his potential as they work to improve their 1-4 record. Despite being three games behind the AFC South-leading Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston moved decisively to bolster their offensive options.
Meanwhile, the Titans remain committed to starting quarterback Cam Ward. Tennessee’s first-year head coach Robert Saleh affirmed there are no plans to bench Ward, the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, following the team’s latest defeat. Ward’s starting record stands at 3-19, but the coaching staff is reportedly focused on finding ways to energize the offense around him.
