Emergency services evacuated approximately 280 people from the Grand Burstin Hotel in Folkestone, Kent, after a fire broke out on Sunday. The blaze, which is believed to have originated in the hotel’s basement, prompted a large-scale response with 26 fire engines dispatched to the scene.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service reported that crews working in breathing apparatus were able to bring the fire under control and extinguish remaining hotspots. As of the latest update, ten fire engines continue to remain at the site to monitor and manage the situation. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, but no injuries related to the incident have been reported.

The evacuated guests and staff were moved to a council-established help hub in the harbour area, where they have received assistance and support. Firefighters continue to carry out investigations and safeguard the area while ensuring the fire is fully extinguished.
