Hundreds of thousands of Tesco customers in the UK are holding on to unused Clubcard vouchers worth significant amounts, with some individuals having amassed more than £100 in unredeemed rewards. Tesco’s Clubcard loyalty program, which is held by approximately 24 million shoppers nationwide, allows customers to earn points through purchases that can be redeemed for discounts in store or with a variety of partner companies.
Recent data indicates that over 500,000 members have accrued more than £100 in vouchers without redeeming them, while nearly 95,000 customers are sitting on vouchers worth £200 or more. To put this in perspective, £100 in vouchers could cover the cost of an average weekly grocery shop at Tesco.
The value of Clubcard vouchers can be enhanced when used with Tesco’s network of over 100 reward partners. When redeemed with most of these partners, the vouchers are worth twice their face value. Select partners offer an even greater benefit, with vouchers tripling in value. For example, £100 in Clubcard points can be exchanged for £300 worth of vouchers at several restaurant chains, such as Pizza Express and Bella Italia.
Customers can also use their vouchers for entertainment and travel. Through the Tesco Tuesdays promotion at Cineworld, Clubcard holders can secure four cinema tickets per week for up to ten weeks using voucher points. Alternatively, shoppers may apply vouchers toward holidays, with £100 equating to £200 off easyJet booking costs.
Tesco encourages customers to check the balance of their Clubcard vouchers through the Tesco app or their online account to ensure they maximize their benefits before any expiration. With many customers unaware of the full value their unused vouchers represent, Tesco’s loyalty program continues to offer substantial opportunities for savings across groceries, dining, travel, and leisure activities.
