Authorities in Hungary have detained a hospital employee accused of stealing and hoarding human remains from his workplace and abandoned burial sites. The 30-year-old man, based in Budapest, was arrested last week by the National Bureau of Investigation amid allegations of illegal use and possession of human body parts.
During a search of the suspect’s residence, investigators reportedly found an assortment of human remains, including a prepared human face, sections of facial skin, a lower leg, a brain, a hand, multiple skulls, and a heart preserved in a jar. Some bones were said to be stored inside a suitcase. Officials are currently conducting forensic tests to determine whether the preserved heart is of human or animal origin.
The suspect reportedly admitted to consuming some of the body parts, according to authorities. The investigation remains ongoing as Hungarian police and forensic experts work to establish the full extent and motive behind the alleged crimes. No further details have been released regarding the exact locations where the remains were taken from or the hospital involved.
