The Hyrox Fitness Cruise, a four-day fitness festival aboard the Tui-owned Mein Schiff 4, sailed a round trip from Palma de Mallorca at the end of last month, attracting 2,100 guests from around the world. The event transformed the cruise ship’s pool deck into a large-scale gym space equipped with dumbbells, kettlebells, sandbags, and cardio machines, hosting a packed schedule of classes, workshops, clinics, and panels led by some of the sport’s leading coaches.

Hyrox, a rapidly growing global fitness competition that combines an 8-kilometer run broken up by eight functional fitness stations, has seen over 1.4 million participants in its events during the 2025-26 season. The cruise was designed to cater to all fitness levels, offering more than 350 hours of programming. Attendees could choose from a broad range of activities, including high-intensity interval training, CrossFit-inspired classes, yoga, Pilates, spin, and breathwork sessions.

Among the coaching staff were highly regarded figures from the CrossFit community and fitness brands like F45 and Les Mills, providing both technical training and motivational support. The ship’s Decks 12 and 14 functioned as central hubs for workouts, featuring everything from circuit training to rigorous strength and cardio sessions. Attendees also benefited from specialized training labs, including those focusing on the Concept2 SkiErg machine, a popular tool among endurance athletes.

While the cruise’s schedule allowed participants to tailor their experience, organizers urged guests to balance workouts with relaxation, emphasizing that the event was also a vacation. Social interaction was a notable feature, with attendees describing a strong sense of community fostered by shared enthusiasm and activities, which was accentuated by the unique environment of a cruise ship.

The cruise incorporated a variety of social and recovery opportunities, including evening parties with all-inclusive drinks and lively music, creating a dynamic atmosphere between training sessions. Despite being a fitness-focused event, it attracted a diverse age group, with the average guest age around 36—significantly younger than typical Tui cruises—and 97 percent of participants were first-time cruisers, illustrating the event’s appeal to a new demographic.

Some guests noted limited plant-based food options as a drawback, suggesting that future editions could improve catering to vegan participants and include amenities such as protein shake bars. The cruise also featured educational talks by professional athletes and wellness experts, including breathwork workshops led by freediver Tavi Castro.

Tui’s communications manager Stefanie Rokoss described the event as unlike any other cruise in the company’s portfolio, noting its unique energy and the way it brought together a community of fitness enthusiasts. The Hyrox Fitness Cruise reflects the growing trend of combining experiential travel with active lifestyles, broadening the appeal of event cruising to health-conscious travelers.

As Hyrox continues to expand its global footprint, the cruise offers a blueprint for immersive, fitness-driven travel experiences that merge sport, education, and social interaction in innovative ways.
