Hyundai is preparing to launch the Ioniq 3, positioned to compete directly with Volkswagen’s ID.3 Neo and the Kia EV3 in the electric vehicle market. The new model is designed to fill the gap between Hyundai’s existing Ioniq 5 and the smaller Inster, and is expected to enter the European market next year.
The Ioniq 3 features Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” design language, characterized by pixel LED headlights and a distinctive profile that includes a kick-up rear window, coupe-style roofline, and wedge-shaped tailgate. Inside, the vehicle offers a spacious cabin, benefiting from a flat floor design and a long wheelbase to maximize passenger comfort. The car will also be the first Hyundai in Europe to incorporate the Pleos Connect infotainment system.
In terms of practicality, the Ioniq 3 includes an innovative “Megabox”—a deep storage bin designed to increase boot capacity. The vehicle’s construction utilizes recycled materials across many trim levels, reflecting a focus on sustainability.
Underpinning the Ioniq 3 is Hyundai’s dedicated electric platform, E-GMP, which features a 400V electrical architecture enabling ultra-rapid charging capabilities. Buyers will be able to choose between two battery options, though specific battery capacities and range figures have yet to be disclosed.
Hyundai has not yet revealed official pricing or detailed specifications, which are expected closer to the vehicle’s market debut next year. The Ioniq 3 is anticipated to strengthen Hyundai’s position in the competitive European compact EV segment by offering a blend of advanced technology, design innovation, and practical features.
