Chelsea midfielder Xabi Alonso has expressed optimism about the club’s future following a significant change in ownership structure. Clearlake Capital recently acquired full control of Chelsea after purchasing the 12.8 percent stakes held by Todd Boehly and Mark Walter. The transaction, reportedly valued at nearly £1 billion, marks a new chapter for the Premier League club.

Clearlake Capital, co-founded by Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano, became the primary owner as part of this deal. Eghbali played a central role in bringing Alonso to Stamford Bridge earlier this year. The Spanish midfielder highlighted the importance of the ownership shift, describing it as a positive development for the club’s stability and competitiveness.

“This is an important day for the club when there is an important change in the ownership structure. We are very optimistic,” Alonso said. He added that there is renewed hope and energy within the team, emphasizing the benefits of “new vision and new leadership.” Alonso described the change as a source of “stability and peace of mind” for both players and club employees.

The player noted that Chelsea’s position has improved significantly compared to a few months prior and expressed pride in being part of the club’s future ambitions. He conveyed his desire to contribute to the team’s pursuit of additional trophies.

Alonso also confirmed he will collaborate more closely with Behdad Eghbali moving forward, underlining Eghbali’s key role in his recruitment during the summer transfer window. This close working relationship is expected to help align the club’s sporting objectives with its new ownership vision.
