Adidas has launched a limited-edition Pokémon collection to mark the franchise’s 30th anniversary, featuring a range of sneakers, apparel, and accessories inspired by popular characters. The collection includes designs centered around nine Pokémon, such as Pikachu, Mewtwo, Rayquaza, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar.
Among the highlighted footwear is a Pikachu Superstar model that includes plush ears on the tongue and face badges on the heel. Another Pikachu design features a white-and-black upper covered with character prints. Mewtwo’s sneaker adopts a softer purple hue with an iridescent finish and a tag referencing the Pokémon’s signature Psystrike move. For Charmander, the design incorporates artwork depicting the fire-type Pokémon breathing flames toward the iconic Adidas Samba stripes.
In Singapore, the collection is available through the Adidas website, offering 34 categories of products including shoes, clothing, and accessories. Prices for footwear range from SGD 99 for children’s models to SGD 289 for premium styles like the Adistar XLG 2.0 and the “confirmed-exclusive” Megaride F50. The Samba OG is priced at SGD 159 for men and SGD 99 for children. Additionally, the collection includes men’s jersey T-shirts retailing at SGD 109, children’s T-shirts starting at SGD 45, and a lunch bag priced at SGD 69.
The Pokémon franchise originated from a 1996 Nintendo game and expanded into an animated television series that premiered in Japan in 1997. It has since been broadcast in over 90 countries and territories worldwide. According to Guinness World Records, Pokémon has generated more than US$147 billion in revenue through merchandise, video games, and advertising.
Looking ahead, Singapore is set to host the 2027 Pokémon World Championships, bringing together international fans and players to compete for titles in the popular trading card and video game competitions.
