Ochiai set a new Asian Games record with his performance and acknowledged the significant role the crowd’s support played in his achievement.

On the cycling track, the Japanese men’s team sprint squad took silver, adding to the country’s medal tally in the sport. Meanwhile, the men’s handball team secured its first medal in four tournaments by defeating South Korea in the bronze-medal match.

In diving, veteran Sho Sakai, 34, earned a bronze medal in the men’s 3-meter springboard event, highlighting Japan’s breadth of success across diverse sports at the Games, which are primarily hosted within Aichi Prefecture.
