New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin was named the NHL’s first star of the week following an impressive start to the 2026-27 season. Over his first three appearances, Shesterkin posted a 2-1-0 record, maintaining a goals-against average of 1.67 and a save percentage of .934. He recorded a total of 71 saves during this period.
Shesterkin also contributed offensively, scoring a goalie goal and adding an assist in Sunday’s victory over the Colorado Mammoth. These points brought his season total to two.
Looking ahead, if Shesterkin earns another point in Thursday’s game, he will tie the longest point streak by a goaltender in NHL history. He would join Henrik Lundqvist, who accomplished the feat during the 2010-11 season, and Tom Barrasso, who did so twice—in 1984-85 and again in 1988-89.
