Ikea has introduced a new second-hand marketplace designed to enable customers to buy and sell used Ikea furniture and homewares. The initiative aims to offer more affordable options, with prices reportedly averaging 60 percent less than new products.

The platform is accessible to members of Ikea Family, the company’s loyalty program, who can list eligible items by scanning the product to create a sales listing. The marketplace excludes certain categories, such as mattresses, appliances, and food, from being sold.

This move positions Ikea to compete directly with established online resale platforms like eBay and Vinted by focusing specifically on its own branded products. The company said the initiative supports its broader sustainability goals by encouraging the reuse of furniture and reducing waste.

The second-hand marketplace is currently available in select markets, with plans to expand its reach in the coming months. Customers can browse listings, negotiate prices, and arrange transactions through the platform, providing a new avenue to access Ikea’s range of home furnishing products at lower costs.
