The International Karate Organization (IKO) Myanmar hosted the Kids and Youth Championships alongside the Weight Category Championships on May 29 at the Myanmar Convention Centre in Yangon. The event gathered over 160 athletes representing various regions and states across the country.
The tournament included both youth divisions and adult categories for participants aged 18 and older, encompassing a total of 16 competition divisions. Following the bouts, officials awarded medals to the top three finishers in each division, recognizing outstanding performances among the youth and adult competitors.
Organizers noted a rising international profile for IKO karate competitions, highlighting growing enthusiasm for the sport within Myanmar’s sporting community. They also announced that Myanmar’s karate athletes are set to take part in an upcoming IKO tournament in Armenia, which is expected to attract approximately 500 participants representing nearly 20 nations.
