Liverpool head coach Arne Slot declined to confirm whether Mohamed Salah will represent the club again following the forward’s recent public criticism. Salah was omitted from the squad for Liverpool’s Champions League match against Inter Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday, marking his third consecutive game without a start.
At a pre-match press conference, Slot was pressed on Salah’s future with the club but was unable to provide a definitive answer. “I have no clue. I cannot answer that question at this point in time,” Slot said. He did, however, express a willingness to see players return following disputes. “I am a firm believer that there is always a possibility to return for a player,” he added. Slot also emphasized his resolve amid recent scrutiny, stating, “Usually I am calm and polite, but it does not mean I’m weak. When a player says things like that, we have to react as a club.”
The controversy stems from an interview in which Salah accused Liverpool of undermining him, a statement that appears to have influenced his exclusion from the squad. Although Salah participated in training at the club’s AXA Training Centre on Monday morning, he was later informed that he would not be traveling to Italy with the team.
Liverpool has struggled recently, securing only four wins in their last 15 matches, a run that has intensified pressure on both Slot and Salah. While the club has not officially described the omission as disciplinary, it is understood that the decision was made by Liverpool’s management rather than the coaching staff alone.
The situation remains fluid, with both the club and player yet to clarify how the relationship will proceed amid ongoing speculation about Salah’s status at Liverpool.
