Carlos Alcaraz secured the Vienna Open title on Sunday with a commanding 6-1, 6-4 victory over Alex de Minaur, maintaining a perfect record against the Australian in seven encounters. The match lasted one hour and 27 minutes, concluding on Alcaraz’s first match point during De Minaur’s serve.

De Minaur, who entered the final with a ten-match unbeaten streak on indoor courts, put up a resilient fight. In the opening set, he reached deuce in seven games but managed to claim only one. The second set saw De Minaur save break points in three of his first four service games, demonstrating his tenacity. However, Alcaraz secured a decisive break in the final game to seal the win.

Alcaraz praised De Minaur’s style and speed, emphasizing the need for relentless focus. “His style is really dangerous,” Alcaraz said. “He’s really fast, so you have to earn every point. You might hit a winner against everybody, except him. I had to be really focused on that.” Reflecting on his strategy, Alcaraz added, “I tried to be aggressive and show him that if he wants to win, he has to play better, more aggressive, more solid, and be smarter than me.”

This victory capped a flawless run at the ATP 500-level events for Alcaraz, marking his 28th career title. He did not drop a set throughout the five matches played in Vienna. The win follows his October title in Tokyo and his earlier 2026 ATP 500 triumph in Doha before a wrist injury sidelined him for nearly five months.

Alcaraz returned to competition at the US Open, where he reached the quarterfinals. Regarding his performance in Vienna, he expressed satisfaction with his progress on indoor courts. “It has been a really emotional and amazing week for me,” he said. “I learned a lot, to keep going forward, step by step, playing on indoor courts, and trying to gain more confidence playing on this surface.”

Alcaraz’s continued success across different hard court venues highlights his resilience and adaptability as he seeks to build on a strong season despite recent injury setbacks.
