A British businessman and two others were killed when their light aircraft crashed in the Swiss Alps on September 15. Tony Hall, 42, from Stourbridge, West Midlands, died alongside businessman Owain Davies, 55, from Carmarthenshire, West Wales, and a third unidentified individual. The three were aboard a single-engine Cirrus SR22T that impacted the northern slope of a mountain in the Fluhalp area near Leukerbad, Switzerland.

The aircraft had departed from Lugano airport and made a stopover at Sion Airport before continuing its journey toward Buochs in central Switzerland. The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. local time, with reports indicating that smoke was visible in the vicinity following the collision. The reasons for the crash remain under investigation.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the incident. The Valais Cantonal Rescue Organisation dispatched three helicopters and two rescue specialists, who confirmed that all three passengers had died at the scene. Valais state police and firefighters from Leukerbad and Sion Airport were also involved in the rescue operation. The Swiss Safety Investigation Service has launched an inquiry to determine the cause of the accident, with additional technical experts from the Vaud state police supporting the probe. The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland has initiated a criminal investigation in partnership with local authorities.

Tony Hall was a prominent businessman known as the managing director of Pegasus Group, which acquired Halfpenny Green Airport in Bobbington, Staffordshire, for £4.5 million earlier this year. His family described him as a devoted husband and father, praising his dedication to his business and expressing gratitude for public support during their loss. In a statement, they emphasized his personal qualities as kind, caring, generous, and determined, mourning the loss of a “truly wonderful” individual.

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed it is providing assistance to the families of the two British nationals and remains in contact with Swiss authorities. It extended condolences to all those affected by the tragedy. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
