The Embassy of India in Qatar, in collaboration with the Indian Business & Professionals Council (IBPC) Qatar, held a felicitation ceremony on July 1 at Dusit Doha Hotel to mark the success of the Indian Mango Festival 2026. Now in its third year, the festival has garnered increased attention as a significant cultural and commercial event, drawing substantial participation from both Indian suppliers and Qatari consumers.

The ten-day festival, organised by Souq Waqif in association with the Embassy of India and executed by IBPC Qatar, attracted approximately 155,600 visitors. Showcasing more than 30 varieties of premium Indian mangoes sourced from across India, the event featured a diverse array of mango-based products including delicacies, beverages, desserts, and specialty items. More than 35 Indian companies participated, using the platform to promote agricultural excellence, enhance commercial ties, and explore new business prospects within the Qatari market.

Attendees at the ceremony included senior officials from Souq Waqif and the Private Engineering Office, among them Khalid Saif Al Suwaidi, general supervisor for events at the Private Engineering Office. Al Suwaidi praised the collaborative efforts between the Embassy of India and IBPC Qatar in organising the festival and expressed optimism about its continued growth and impact in future editions. Souq Waqif’s organising team received commemorative mementos in recognition of their contributions, while Certificates of Appreciation were distributed to participating exhibitors to acknowledge their professionalism and commitment.

Thaha Muhammed Abdul Kareem, president of IBPC Qatar, highlighted the spirit of cooperation among exhibitors, noting how collaboration, rather than competition, defined the festival’s success. He described the event as more than a commercial marketplace, framing it as a celebration of partnership, entrepreneurship, and the longstanding friendship between India and Qatar.

Sandeep Kumar, deputy chief of mission at the Embassy of India, also commended the participants and expressed gratitude to Souq Waqif for its ongoing support. He emphasized the important role of enthusiastic exhibitor participation in the event’s achievements.

The ceremony concluded with renewed pledges from the Embassy of India, IBPC Qatar, and Souq Waqif to further enhance bilateral relations through future initiatives promoting trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, and cultural exchange. The event underscored the value of institutional collaboration and people-to-people engagement as foundational to the strengthening strategic partnership between India and Qatar.
