Ashrit Talluri, a ninth-grade student from Fulton County, Georgia, has achieved a perfect score of 1,600 on the SAT, a milestone rarely reached at his age. The 14-year-old scored an 800 on both the Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing sections when he took the college admissions test in June, placing him in the 99th percentile of all test takers.

Talluri, who comes from a Telugu family with roots in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district, has shown academic promise well before taking the SAT. His parents, Taruni and Ramanareesh, immigrated to the United States in 2008 and settled in Georgia. Prior to his SAT success, Ashrit had already earned 14½ high school credits while still in middle school and attended summer programs at Harvard and Rice universities.

Encouraged by his father and middle-school counselor, Ashrit registered for the SAT in January and dedicated five months to thorough preparation. His study routine included working with a tutor, watching instructional videos online, and completing more than 24 practice tests, on which he had scored a perfect 1,600 three times. Despite this, he experienced significant nervousness during the actual test, particularly in the Reading and Writing section. He said that staying calm and pacing himself helped him navigate the exam successfully.

Following the test, his family waited several weeks for verification of the unusually high score before it was officially confirmed. Confirming the perfect 1,600 placed Ashrit among a select group of students who attain the maximum score each year, although the College Board does not release detailed statistics on the exact number.

Currently enrolled at Innovation Academy in Fulton County, Ashrit is taking two college-level courses through dual enrollment while continuing to engage in extracurricular activities such as chess, aviation, and participation in local hackathons. His interests also include artificial intelligence, computer science, medicine, and research.

Rather than resting on his achievement, Ashrit uses his experience to assist others by creating SAT practice questions and exploring test-taking strategies to help fellow students. He expressed a desire to contribute to his community, inspired by the support he received during his own preparation.

Looking ahead, Ashrit aspires to become a neurosurgeon, aiming to integrate his passion for medicine, neuroscience, and technology in his future career.
