Indian renewable energy consulting and engineering firm SgurrEnergy is considering opening a dedicated office in Oman to support the country’s growing clean energy sector. The Pune-based company has provided renewable energy services in over 55 countries for more than two decades and views Oman as a strategic market amid its rapid deployment of utility-scale solar and wind projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and green hydrogen infrastructure.
Arif Aga, Director of SgurrEnergy, said the company is actively evaluating the establishment of a local office to enhance client support and service delivery throughout the project lifecycle. SgurrEnergy offers independent technical advice and engineering consultancy across the renewable energy value chain, targeting developers, lenders, utilities, and public-sector stakeholders. The company aims to ensure renewable energy projects in Oman are technically sound, financially viable, and engineered to perform reliably under the country’s challenging climatic conditions.
SgurrEnergy’s expertise covers a range of services including renewable resource assessments, feasibility studies, detailed engineering design, grid integration analysis, hybrid solar-wind-storage optimization, environmental impact assessments, and technical due diligence. The firm plans to align its engineering practices with Omani regulatory bodies such as the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) and Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (Nama PWP), while incorporating international best practices to support grid stability and renewable power plant performance.
The company also intends to assist developers competing in Oman’s expanding pipeline of renewable energy tenders by offering pre-bid technical advisory and engineering support. Beyond consultancy, SgurrEnergy is looking to contribute to Oman’s In-Country Value (ICV) objectives through knowledge transfer and skills development. Proposed initiatives include structured training programs on topics like energy yield modeling, grid integration, asset diagnostics, and performance engineering, as well as technical workshops for developers, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors, and other professionals.
Aga highlighted Oman’s strong potential to become a competitive global hub for renewable energy, citing abundant solar and wind resources, ample land availability, and an ambitious clean energy agenda. However, he noted that advancing the country’s energy transition will require more than expanding capacity. Developing a resilient and grid-integrated renewable energy system capable of supporting large-scale green hydrogen production and industrial decarbonization demands rigorous engineering, robust risk management, and integrated project planning.
“Our long-term intent is clear: to build a presence that meaningfully contributes to Oman’s energy transition, while ensuring that our global expertise is readily accessible to developers, lenders, independent power producers, EPC contractors, and manufacturers across the country,” Aga said.
