Indiana secured a 13-6 victory over Michigan in an overtime contest on Saturday afternoon at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. The win marked Indiana’s first triumph at Michigan since 1967 and improved their overall record to 7-1 and conference mark to 4-1. Michigan fell to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in Big Ten play.
The game remained low-scoring through regulation, with both teams relying heavily on their defenses. Indiana’s Nico Radicic contributed two field goals, while Michigan’s Trey Butkowski kicked two of his own, including a 26-yard field goal that tied the game and forced overtime.
Indiana’s offense gained momentum late in the fourth quarter and quickly capitalized in overtime. Hoosiers quarterback Josh Hoover completed a 21-yard pass to tight end Brock Schott, marking Indiana’s first completed pass after halftime. Hoover then ran a 4-yard keeper around the right end to score the game-winning touchdown on just the second play of overtime.
Hoover finished the game completing 8 of 18 passes for 81 yards and threw his first interception of the season. On the ground, Indiana’s Turbo Richard carried the ball 19 times for 68 yards, while Lee Beebe Jr. added 56 yards on 12 attempts.
Freshman Michigan quarterback Tommy Carr, starting his first game, completed 20 of 32 passes for 167 yards. Wide receiver JJ Buchanan was the leading target with six receptions for 57 yards. Despite converting a fourth down during overtime, Michigan’s attempt to score ended when Carr’s throw on fourth-and-9 near the goal line fell short of the intended receiver, sealing the victory for Indiana.
