Reliance Industries, India’s largest conglomerate by market capitalization, reported record quarterly revenue and a significant increase in net profit for the three months ending September 2026. The company posted revenue of 3.62 trillion rupees ($38 billion), marking a 27.8 percent rise compared to the same quarter last year, and reported a 41 percent jump in net profit.
The gains were driven by strong performances in Reliance’s core oil-to-chemicals division and its digital services arm, Jio Platforms. The positive results come shortly after Jio Platforms completed its initial public offering, which raised over $3 billion in what was described as the country’s largest IPO to date.
Under the leadership of chairman Mukesh Ambani, Reliance has increasingly diversified its portfolio beyond its traditional energy business. While the conglomerate continues to rely heavily on its oil refining operations—operating the world’s largest refinery complex in Gujarat—the company has expanded aggressively into telecommunications and green energy sectors over the past decade.
Despite challenges posed by volatile crude supply due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, Reliance has managed to optimize its crude sourcing and product distribution across its value chain. Ambani highlighted the company’s ability to navigate a complex operating environment while improving margins.
Jio Platforms, launched ten years ago, has played a critical role in Reliance's growth strategy. The wireless service provider rapidly gained market share through competitive pricing, amassing over 530 million subscribers and overtaking established telecom competitors such as Bharti Airtel and Vodafone. Though telecom remains its primary revenue source, Jio has expanded into digital services and artificial intelligence, positioning itself as central to Reliance’s ambitions to transition into a major technology player.
Ambani emphasized the role of Jio’s strong IPO performance in reinforcing investor confidence, describing the company as having “set multiple global benchmarks” and as a foundation for future growth across various technology sectors. Analysts view Jio as a pivotal element in Reliance’s efforts to evolve beyond traditional energy and manufacturing and establish new footholds within India’s rapidly developing digital economy.
