Muscat’s Ministry of Information reported continued growth across various media performance indicators throughout 2025, highlighting the expanding influence of Omani digital content and the strengthening of professional media capabilities.

The Ministry’s data indicate a significant rise in audience engagement on digital platforms, aligning with the country’s broader national strategy under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. These developments support Oman Vision 2040’s goals to accelerate digital transformation and foster a diversified, knowledge-based economy.

Notably, the total video and audio plays on the ‘Ayn’ platform reached 18.7 million in 2025, increasing by 35 percent compared to 12.3 million in 2024. This growth reflects a widening national audience and underscores the pivotal role that digital platforms are playing in distributing media and informational content to a broader segment of society amid shifting global media consumption habits.

In addition, Oman Observer recorded 98.4 million visits during the year, while the combined output of the two newspapers under the Ministry’s purview totaled nearly 20,000 content pieces. These included reports, surveys, investigative features, interviews, and journalistic analyses, illustrating a diverse and active media ecosystem.

Licensing activities also expanded in 2025, with the Ministry approving 621 applications for various media operations and issuing 53 new licenses for artistic works. This surge signals an increased media presence covering development initiatives and projects across Oman’s governorates. This focus aligns with directives from His Majesty the Sultan aimed at decentralizing authority and empowering local governance to enhance regional development.

Overall, the Ministry of Information’s 2025 report demonstrates steady progress in digital media adoption, content production, and regulatory support, reflecting Oman’s commitment to building a robust knowledge economy and responsive media sector.
