REMBAY—Mohd Nur Aiman Rosli of the Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) remains determined to make a strong showing in the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) despite sustaining injuries earlier in the race. The 27-year-old rider from Johor, who achieved a career highlight last year with a second-place finish in Stage 7, aims to replicate that success during today’s stage, which passes through his hometown.
Aiman’s breakthrough came in the 2025 LTdL when he finished second in the stage that went through his hometown, earning the Best Asean Rider and Stage Best Asian Rider awards. His podium finish was the first by a local rider in five years. This year, Aiman started the race strongly by securing the white jersey as the best Asian rider following Stage 1, which ran from Shah Alam to Kampar.
However, his campaign was interrupted during Stage 4 on Wednesday, between Meru Raya and Cameron Highlands, when he was involved in a crash triggered by a pothole. The incident was compounded by a collision with a fallen rider from the Unibet Rose Rockets team. Aiman suffered injuries to his leg, hands, and thigh, which have affected his ability to ride smoothly.
“The injury is annoying, but I can’t focus on that,” Aiman said. “I have to look ahead and push the pain aside. It does impact me when I’m pedalling, so I hope my body recovers quickly. That’s all I can do now.”
Despite the physical challenges, Aiman remains hopeful about his prospects in Stage 7, a 158.9-kilometer route from Melaka to Batu Pahat. The stage features several sprint sections, including one in Tangkak, Aiman’s hometown, as well as in Bukit Kepong and Parit Sulong.
Aiman previously earned recognition for his aggressive riding style, having won the most combative rider award in Stage 4 of last year’s race. His current determination to compete at a high level demonstrates his resilience as he navigates recovery and competition simultaneously.
The outcome of Stage 7 will be closely watched, as Aiman seeks to overcome the setback and contend in front of a home crowd.
