An investigation has been launched following the death of a 17-year-old girl at the Kendal Calling music festival in Cumbria. The incident occurred in the early hours of August 2 at Lowther Deer Park, where the annual four-day event was being held. The festival, which attracted over 40,000 attendees, featured headline performances from the Scissor Sisters and Wolf Alice.

Emergency services responded promptly after the girl was reported unwell, administering CPR at the scene. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead. Authorities have informed her family and are providing support through specialist officers.

Police have appealed for information, specifically requesting to speak with a group of women who initially raised the alarm and alerted first responders out of concern for the girl’s condition.

Organizers of Kendal Calling released a statement confirming that medical personnel were immediately on hand to assist once the individual became unwell and that all possible measures were taken to aid her.
