Internationally recognized artistic director Ilham Mestour is leading a five-day hairstyling workshop, The MESTOUR Method, at M7 in Msheireb Downtown Doha from October 11 to 15. The program brings together professional hairstylists from cities including Paris, London, Amsterdam, and the United States for a unique blend of technical training and creative exploration in an intimate setting.

With nearly 30 years of experience in fashion hairstyling, Mestour demonstrates unconventional techniques and hairstyles to participants before guiding them through reinterpretations of these looks. The workshop emphasizes not only mastering craft and form but also fostering individual creative expression. “I want them to trust their own eye, find their own way of working and take what they’ve learned into something that’s truly theirs,” Mestour said.

Mestour’s connection to Doha’s creative community dates back to her collaboration with M7 on Amazigh Hair Couture, a project exploring the ties between hairstyling, cultural heritage, and identity. Returning now with The MESTOUR Method, she aims to both share knowledge and engage in a cultural exchange with local and international artists. “Doha has a special place in my heart,” she noted. “I’m here to share what I’ve learned, but also to meet people, exchange ideas and learn from them.”

The workshop experience extends beyond hairstyling to include a hospitality partnership with Keeta, which has curated a program of local culinary offerings designed to complement the event’s creative rhythm. Participants have access to fare from local establishments such as Blackout Coffee, Trays’ cheese platters, Nawar’s Bakery founded by female entrepreneur Mariam al-Thani, and Nando’s Qatar, among others. This collaboration reflects Keeta’s expanding role in supporting Doha’s creative ecosystem by integrating local food businesses with international art and fashion events.

Mestour expressed appreciation for Keeta’s involvement, emphasizing the importance of community and connection. “It’s lovely to see people from different backgrounds come together and support each other,” she said. “I hope we can continue building on these connections long after these five days.”

Over the course of the program, M7 has become a hub for artistic collaboration, where technical skill, cultural exchange, and social interaction converge. The MESTOUR Method underscores the belief that creativity flourishes through shared experiences, and that the ultimate goal for artists is to develop a distinct and authentic personal style.
