A new unscripted reality series, “Million Dollar Nannies,” premiered Wednesday on Hulu and Freeform, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the demanding and often extravagant world of elite childcare providers. The show follows eight nannies, including Leah Barrs, Jack McCann, and Olivia McMahon, as they launch a luxury boutique nanny agency in Ibiza, highlighting both the challenges and perks of working for some of the wealthiest families.

Leah Barrs, 31, who previously cared for Kourtney Kardashian’s three children—Mason, Penelope, and Reign Disick—describes the role as much more than traditional nannying. Besides managing school, appointments, and daily schedules, Barrs emphasizes the extensive responsibilities that include coordinating travel and maintaining strict privacy protocols due to the high-profile nature of her employers. She noted the intense scrutiny and the need to represent the family with discretion and professionalism, often requiring constant availability and detailed updates to parents.

The show’s cast also includes Jack McCann, 23, a New York-based “manny” and social media influencer, and Olivia McMahon, 22, both of whom share their experiences with the unique demands of elite childcare. McCann recounted traveling via private jet to babysit in Paris while his employers attended a Valentino fashion show, followed by a caviar tasting event—highlighting the opulent lifestyle that often accompanies working in these circles. He also described unusual situations such as spray-tanning a prospective employer to secure a nanny position, an experience he described as outside his comfort zone.

McMahon, whose day-to-day responsibilities range from picking up children from school to managing playdates and household chores, shared an incident that illustrates the extensive logistical duties nannies often undertake. She once arranged last-minute charter flights, staffed hotels, and coordinated travel accommodations within a 24-hour window to support a family’s spontaneous jet-setting plans. Despite the intensity of such tasks, she stresses that the financial rewards and perks—including six-figure salaries, free private jet travel, accommodations, and luxury gifts like Louis Vuitton bags and Cartier bracelets—make the job worthwhile. McMahon, who left college early, said the role has allowed her to earn more than she initially thought possible.

Both McMahon and Barrs acknowledged that the job can include unusual requests, such as caring for exotic pets—McMahon recounted having to tend to a bearded dragon, an experience far removed from typical childcare duties. Still, they agreed that the material benefits and unique experiences often outweigh the challenges.

The series portrays the duality of a profession that combines high demands, rigorous background checks, and often stressful confidentiality requirements with a lifestyle filled with luxury travel, designer goods, and exclusive access. For the nannies featured, the role is not just about caring for children but also managing complex household and scheduling needs, making the job as multifaceted as it is demanding.
